Oh what a night! On Monday 15th November The Big One winners were revealed. As a sponsor for the awards it was an event not to be missed by the Avlon Team.
Kicking off the evening with a guided tour around the venue, with stations to spend some up-close and personal time with some of hairdressings most renowned artists. Watching how they work and seeing their creative run wild was incredible. From demos, to expos, to experiences it was an event that the hairdressing industry had not seen before. But one they certainly want to see again!
General Manager for Avlon, Graham Oakes says “Hair Pieces provided a great opportunity to reconnect with the wider hairdressing family and to make new contacts. At Avlon we were particularly inspired by Stewart Roberts of Haircuts for the Homeless and Fry Taylor of The Green Collective. What fabulous projects! We invited a group of Avlon salon partners and their feedback has been ‘off the scale’ positive. They were inspired by the walk-through format of the show and variety of artists. Congratulations to Nicky and her team!”
The award ceremony then kicked off, hosted by the one and only Nicky Pope – UK publisher for Tribu-te Magazine. As a sponsor of the One for Afro, Nicky invited Graham Oakes to the stage to present the award. It gave us all great pleasure to see Anthony Grant take home the trophy to add to his collection of accolades.
“Avlon were proud to sponsor The Big One for Afro and would like to congratulate all nominees on the very high standard achieved. Avlon were delighted to award the trophy to Anthony Grant , such a strong voice and advocate for Afro hair. Congratulations Anthony! The whole event reflected Tribute/Respects values – high standards , inspiring hairdressers and providing a platform for artistic expression. Avlon’s key pillars are aligned to what we feel made The Big One Awards so successful – the science of haircare , family and diversity,” Graham added.
