Avlon pledges ACLT donation

Big news! Avlon Europe has pledged to donate a proportion of its profits to the Afro Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT), in recognition of Black History Month this October. A real honourable thing to do.

The ACLT is an award-winning, independent charity that strives to provide a lifeline to those suffering from blood related cancers such as leukaemia and other life-threatening disorders. The charity focuses on providing optimism to those living with blood cancer and other illnesses, where a donor match is needed to save a life (stem-cell, blood or organ).

The UK based charity registers individuals from all ethnicities to improve the chances of finding a match, however its main focus is on donors from the African and Caribbean people, due to an extreme shortage of donors in these communities. The ACLT has found lifesaving matches for more than 150 blood cancer patients in need of a stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor.

Graham Oakes, General Manager at Avlon Europe said: “We have been proud supporters of the ACLT for many years and have seen first-hand the incredible work it does to help save lives, particularly within Afro and Caribbean communities.

“This year in recognition of Black History Month, we will be donating a percentage of our profits to the ACLT in the hope that our commitment, donation and continued participation will provide a much needed cash boost to this vital charity.”

Avlon Europe has support the ACLT for 13 years, taking part in various fundraising initiatives such as the charity’s annual Run 5, Save Lives 5K, supporting ‘Bonded by Blood: A Mothers Story’, a nationwide blood donation campaign launched in memory of sickle cell patient Richard Okorogheye and sponsor of the ACLT’s 25th Anniversary dinner in 2021.
