Meet the Authentic Beauty Concept Education Team

Jody Brooks: education, sustainability and business consultant
With a passion for education and sustainability, Jody brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Authentic Beauty Concept.
Starting in an independent boutique salon before working for a global brand, Jody developed his award-winning salon and academy. Authentic Beauty Concept says that education has remained a focus for Jody since creating his salon. More than half his 27-year career involved helping others develop their skills.
Authentic Beauty Concept says Jody is driven by a desire to inspire change for the better. He believes creating a love of the craft is fundamental to great education. Jody is also motivated by the magic that happens in salons every day and the positive impact hairdressers have on their guests.

Dan Mewies â education consultant
With more than 15 years of experience in the industry, Dan is a confident and diverse hairstylist. Dan has expertise in cutting, colouring and styling, with a special talent for working on curly or textured hair.
In 2019, after owning a successful salon for six years, Dan and his wife Jemma relocated to Leicestershire. They rebranded their businessâthe project: renovating a local village pub and turning it into a destination salon. It sounds like it was funâĶand lots of hard work. The finished salon, Mewies & Co, soon became a flagship Authentic Beauty Concept salon. The brand says Mewies & Co embodies its values of sustainability, community, and mindfulness.
Since then, Dan has curated a successful salon brand and developed a warm and accessible approach to education for his team and the wider Authentic Beauty Concept community. The brand says Dan is a go-to for product knowledge, business expertise and knowledge about making sustainable business choices.

Anthony McMeiken: education consultant
As co-founder and creative director of an independent salon brand, Anthony is a successful and well-established stylist and educator.
In 2014 Anthony joined the Shaping Futures scheme, which provides basic hairdressing training to disadvantaged young adults in India. Authentic Beauty Concept says this was where Athony’s passion for education was born. From there, he continued his overseas journey to the Middle East, where he joined the international education team for a world-renowned salon group.
Back in the UK, Anthony has since launched his own business. Anthony further developed his skill backstage at London Fashion Week, styling celebrities for red-carpet events and building his profile through industry awards.
Anthony has worked alongside Authentic Beauty Concept since its launch. He is passionate about the brand’s values and the opportunity it provides to create an exceptional guest experience, from the spa-style backwash treatments to its complementary retail portfolio.
