WWHT 2018

Aurore Caboche Angelo Seminara

The Davines World Wide Hair Tour 2018 was always going to be a superlative event – sited at the brand’s home in Parma, Italy and celebrating the opening of its new Davines Village development which is now the company’s headquarters – with a fabulous line-up of shows, presentations, competition and networking events. Importantly, it provides an opportunity to spend several days in a creatively-nourishing environment with Angelo Seminara, Davines creative director, presiding over an inspiring roster of hairdressing artists.

We caught up with Angelo behind the scenes as he prepped for the reveal of his new film project, presented to an audience of more than 3000 hairdressers from around the globe. He was keen to talk to us about the power of film as a medium for sharing ideas and techniques without the need to travel a large posse of models, stylists and assistants. It’s a concept that fits well with the Davines focus on sustainable beauty, and at the WWHT18 weekend, as Angelo premiered a fantastic 45-minute tutorial, he showcased how perfectly a wide-screen movie can generate the same excitement as a live show.

You always feel as if you’ve learned something with Angelo! Working with a team of assistants – we loved the sight of 4 people holding metres of hair-rope ready to wrap round the model’s head – he is has sooo many ideas of how to cut and dress hair. For the WWHT18 he focussed on texture with a fabulous weave technique (see below), twists and scissor-slicing. We will let the photographs do the talking… Bravo Angelo. A truly conceptual hair artist.
