Headhunter: Reflections of Bauhaus

One of the most important influences on contemporary hairdressing celebrates 100 years of being. Yep, the German Bauhaus School of art and design was founded in 1919 and arguably became the first to teach students modern design by bridging the gap between art and industry. Minimalist, and focused on the balance of form and function, the Bauhaus inspired Vidal Sassoon when he launched his concept of mass-market hair salons and styles that are artistic yet easy to replicate and utterly useful. This sexy, 40s-look collection from Detlef Gehlhaar and the creative team at Headhunter in Germany is a “reflection’ of Bauhaus… no surprise to find Tim Hartley, formerly 30 years a Sassoon creative director is on the press credit sheet. It reads:

Inspired by the Bauhaus movement with a sexy 40’s influence.. hair is scuptured and finished to a textured waved and gloss finish. Colours are from subtle to bright with highly polished elements..
