Hairdresser Juan Luis Soria Gomez describes his new British Afterimage collection as a study in motion. He tells us that movement can be a creative material. The British Afterimage collection explores British hair as a form in constant transformation. Why the title British? Juan Luis says it’s the geometric precision that puts the British into these look – they are inherited from London academies and coexist with the punk aesthetic, New Wave energy, and the spontaneous gesture of hair in motion.
Full disclosure – the looks are entirely A.I. But do they still say something about the ability of a hairdresser to take the reality, the heritage of our craft, and find something interesting to inspire?
Juan Luis adds: “Picturing the looks in black and white eliminates the distraction of colour, focusing the eye on silhouette, texture, and technique. Long-exposure trails do not obscure the cut; they reveal its path, transform time into volume, and create an editorial tension between control and rebellion.”

Look 1: Fractured Shag
Choppy layers, uneven bangs, and disconnected lengths create an expansive silhouette. The movement reveals the cut’s architecture and projects a free-spirited, dark, and contemporary London attitude.

Look 2: Marked Pixie
A minimal, precise pixie cut featuring tapered sideburns and a clean nape. The austerity of the shape focuses all the impact on the profile, the eyes, and the technical purity of the cut.

Look 3: Sculpted Orbit
A polished mass envelops the head like a graphic orbit. The curved fringe, the opening above the ear, and the extended nape balance Sassoon precision with a futuristic sensibility.

Look 4: Punk Velocity
The disconnection between the short side, the heavy front, and the narrow nape recaptures punk and New Wave energy. The photographic motion blur transforms rebellion into visual speed.
