A prosperous salon with Linda Stewart

Linda Stewart, co-founder of Rainbow Room International with husband Alan, shares her top tips for a prosperous salon in 2023. Many of us put together a set of goals we want to achieve in the new year but don’t get around to achieving them. Stick to it! Having a plan will ensure success. For more creative types, Linda suggests that making a vision board to show your salon goals will help. Keep reading for more expert insight into running a business…adopting new practices can have incredible results.

Look after your team

Linda Stewart

Your team should be a prime focus, says Linda. They should be relaxed and fully recharged after the holidays, now ensure they are motivated to work hard, provide great service to clients and help you achieve your business goals. Linda advises you to offer incentives and rewards when your team performs well. Hold regular meetings and one-to-ones with each team member to ensure they are happy at work, and address concerns if they have them. Invest in training. Linda advocates keeping your team’s training refreshed and consistent will help them stay inspired and motivated. Make your team a priority not just at the start of a year but at all times – having a motivated, dedicated and hard-working team is pivotal towards your salon’s success.

Clever marketing

business advice running a salon

Another tip for a prosperous 2023 is to think about your salon marketing. Marketing plays a huge role in attracting new clients and retaining loyal clients. You can share your work, the products you are stocking and any offers you run. Marketing can be anything from text messages and emails to newsletters and newspaper adverts. It also includes paid social media ads. Linda says to try something new; you may end up attracting more clients so get creative! Use platforms like Google and Facebook to gain client reviews. Having fantastic reviews builds credibility and trust. Many clients look at salon reviews before choosing whether they want to visit.

Time to clean up

business advice

Have a clean-up! As well as ensuring the salon looks impressive to clients as they walk through the door, have a clean-up of any practices that aren’t working, such as old marketing practices that aren’t working for you. Look for ways you can reduce your salon overheads and how tools like your salon management software can help you to be more efficient.

Thanks to Linda Stewart for sharing this insight into running a prosperous business. Make 2023 your year of growth by looking after your team, using clever marketing strategies and having a clean-up…it will all be worth it.
