Thanks to the brash bright young things demonstrating the power of a new look for every occasion [think girls channelling Kylie Jenner and Rita Ora for example], wigs are having an awesome moment. Not since the Sixties has there been such widespread interest in the snap change that a good wig offers, due in part to the massive progress in making wigs more comfortable and easy to home-style. Now they are becoming as much a part of the fashionistas wardrobe as a a hot handbag or the latest trainers. Check the article this Saturday[13 May] in the Times newspaper above. The pop-stars and party people are loving the temporary burst of colour, shape or cut.
Of course, as discerning, skilled hairdressers, we’re used to seeing fabulous use of wigs and hairpieces on stage – Blue Tit’s show at the recent Davines Hair on Stage – and in photo collections – check Angelo Seminara’s Great Lengths collection. We’re familiar with the art of using added hair on clients emulating that TOWIE vibe (great for business!) and this uber glam look is perfect for utilising your use of hair tools for styles with va va Voom! But now the fashion-forward are getting brave and bold with a wig which may not be all about length and volume. Bobs, lobs and crops are now in the mix, and this is going to filter down fast to your high street.  Browse our pictures of the SS17 to remind yourself of the current must-have playful looks.. a supersize Vin+Omi wig might be OTT [don’t we just wish it was more popular!], but the point remains; this season’s best styles are all high drama and colour with a punch. Get with the programme and ensure that your wiggery-pokery is up to date!
