S/S14 goes bonkers

image011New York.. London… Milan… all done. This week S/S14 show madness hits the final destination of Paris (or make that #PFW) and we’re loving it, bien sur! Whether we brave (sometimes) the cool-hunting scrum of fashionistas and journalists to be there in person, or browse (more relaxing) the constant supply of images on line, we eagerly lap up the gorgeous, daring, exciting and at times challenging looks from designers and their hair/make-up teams alike. Question: So far which are your favourites?
It’s fresh and so fun to check out the on-schedule show styles with our favourite hero sessionistas such as Eugene, Guido, Peter and Antoinette giving us their take on the upcoming season. Adam Reed worked the #LFW Alexis Barre show ((pictured above)) – we deem that one of our hotties.
Equally we adore the opportunity shows give for salon hairdressers to join a crew backstage, seizing a chance to flirt with the fashion world. It all proves once again that no outfit is complete without something fab ‘up top’. Hair is intrinsic to the look.
As to how much will translate to the high street, who knows? And perhaps that’s not the point. These S/S14 looks are 3D sketches on future directions in hair…. Yet, arguably they are more realistic, dynamic and tangible than pristine studio photo collections, which after all can only show one posed angle at a time. So we urge you to siift through the catwalk footage and edit down to what really comes through time and again as a trend. Learn the essential technique to recreate that ponytail, braid, updo or parting… check out the products used to best effect. Use that research to drive your work both behind the chair or in the studio and keep you on trend. So go on, what did catch your eye this time?
