News added 21/12/17: HOLIDAY GLAM with Models 1
Working together, Models 1 teamed up with Oribe UK and Ruuby App, to create two looks for the festive break – using lots of glitter, gloss and shimmer. Oribe UK stylist Miabella Ristorp, created a simple chignon and a tousled bob on the models using Oribe’s extensive line of haircare. We asked Miabella to talk us through the products and techniques she used below:
Lydia: Chic Chignon
- Firstly, use the Foundation Mist, spraying gently all over to maximize moisture in the hair
- Then, prep the hair with the Oribe Gel Serum for shine and hold
- Blow-dry the hair for a smoother look
- Next, use Swept Up on the roots for grip at the top of the head
- Then, apply Air Style at the ends of the hair for further smoothness
- Pull all the hair into a sleek ponytail
- Create a knot with all the hair in the ponytail to form a chignon – a timeless, classy style that works perfectly for Christmas drinks.
Kirsty: Sleek Bob
- Firstly, spray on evenly some of the Foundation Mist to maximize moisture
- Then add a small amount of the Super Shine Serum to the ends of the hair
- Use Matte Waves and run through evenly for a beachy texture
- Blow-dry through
- Finish with Dry Texturizing Spray for a bouncy, tousled look.

News added 15/12/17: The Meghan Markle effect …
Following in the footsteps of Kate Middleton, we’re not surprised to see that Meghan Markle — Prince Harry’s fiancé and soon-to-be-Windsor — is having a real consumer pull with her outfits selling out in seconds. Impressive!
And this is great news for one hair brand in particular, as Meghan hails Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray as an essential aspect of her beauty arsenal. She claims: “There is nothing like a hair flip! When my hair is feeling a little weighted, Suanne, my hair artist on set, has me bend forward and she sprays a little Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray … and then has me ‘flip back hard’ to give my hair a little extra bounce.” Nice!
It’s always a boost for your sales when a product you stock receives a celebrity endorsement, and a royal endorsement? Well, that’s gold dust. Our top tip? Stock up on this spray pronto, and cash in on the Meghan Markle effect while you can!

Kieron aptly demonstrated this by using a spectrum of Oribe products including: Air Style Flexible Finishing Cream, Dry Texturizing Spray, Impermèable Anti-Humidity Spray, Fiber Groom Elastic Texture Paste, Superfine Hairspray and Foundation Mist. News added 22/08/17: Samantha Hillerby is one of the hair world’s editorial heavyweights – styling hair for red-carpet events and high-end fashion magazines around the world. Her picturesque hair studio in the tiny village of Swanland in East Yorkshire was selected as one of THE top 10 beauty destinations outside of London by Vogue earlier this year, too. Come meet her…
How did you get into hairdressing?
I was brought up around hair, as my mum was a hairdresser. When I was 13 years old, I asked the hairdresser for a Saturday job, and then when I left school they offered me a full time position and the rest is history!
Huge congratulations on your Vogue listing, how did that feel?
I was overwhelmed when Vogue listed me as top 10 hair/ beauty salon outside London…. what an accolade couldn’t get any better I’m very thankful.
What do you think makes Samantha Hillerby Hair Studio special?
After three months of renovations – which I loved – I opened by salon in November 2016. With 33 years of experience in the hair and fashion industry, I draw on my experiences working in London with some of the biggest names in the industry, magazines like Vogue and countless celebrities to give my clients a one-to-one service in a high-end, intimate space which they love. I feel very proud to be a salon owner.
Why did you start working with Oribe?
I had been using Oribe for a while in my session-work, and the celebs and models I work with love it. I wanted to be able to give my clients in the studio the same experience they have … Oribe products are premium, they smell gorgeous and they work! Not to mention the beautiful packaging … I feel Oribe reflects everything I’m about and my approach to hair.
What is your favourite product and why?
The very first Oribe product I used was the Dry Texturizing Spray on a photo shoot. It translates beautifully from session to salon and it’s still my favourite product.
What has been the most memorable moment of your career to date?
My goodness! I have some amazing memories and career moments from my first Vogue cover (shooting with Mario Testino) to opening my studio. It’s hard to pick!
What do you love most about our industry and what is your advice to the youngsters?
I feel privileged and fortunate to work with so many creative passionate people and been able to make women feel good about themselves. To all those young talented people out there I say: go for it and follow your dreams!

Oribe celebrated their backstage superheroes— hairstylists from across the globe—with a party to mark the end of Paris Fashion Week! A large crowd of independent stylists, most of whom spent the last four weeks creating trendsetting looks at New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks, gathered at The Red House in Paris to let their hair down and toast each other’s hard work. Oribe’s Global Ambassador, James Pecis, hosted the party along with Oribe Educators Kien Hoang, Kelly Peach, Ramona Eschbach and Ashley Brecken. We wish we’d been there… looks like A LOT of fun! #OribeObsessed
News added 28/02/17: Fresh from New York Fashion Week, we fired some quick questions at session-stylist and Oribe golden boy James Pecis to find out what makes him tick…
• What do you love most about New York Fashion Week?
NYC is a nice ease into an intense month. We have 4 cities and 4 weeks and NYC is a nice way to get into the flow. We always think of it as the warm up week. I also live in NYC so I can ride my bike to shows, which puts a smile on my face.
• What was your favourite look from NYFW this year (by you or another stylist)?
My two faves were Brandon Maxwell and Adam Selman. Brandon Maxwell was beautiful, luxurious, and sexy; and Adam was super-cool, fun, and a crowd pleaser.
• What products and/or tools do you swear by?
Oribe Maximista, Oribe Swept Up Volume Powder Spray (my new favourite) and Superfine, Adlena’s playlist, my OKO filtered water bottle, Bry (our team producer) and my super team.
• What do you enjoy most about being backstage/working at NYFW?
Getting creative with my team, putting something together in a relatively short amount of time, working in a fast paced environment. I love the challenge and to be a part of the birth place where the trends begin. After a month of shows, you start the new season already with the knowledge first hand of what is happening now.
• What do you do to relax during the buzz of NYFW?
There is not a lot of time for relaxing during this month… we try and do a team dinner in each city but sometimes that is not even an option.
• Do you remember your first ever NYFW? What was it like?
I was so eager to jump in and not ready. I remember not knowing how to cornrow and i just started a girl and it was terrible. The lead came over and pulled me away and told me not to braid because I didn’t know how. Every morning after that I practiced on a doll’s head before work.
• What has been your most memorable moment backstage?
I could never pick one moment. Every show and every season leaves wonderful memories. When ever you are challenged in high stress situations with a team, you bond over those moments and they become very special.

News added 16/01/17: Shine bright!
Introducing the new Silverati range from Oribe! The super-luxe Shampoo and Conditioner duo have been developed specifically to illuminate and enhance grey and white hair. The formula brightens, removing yellow tones and removing dullness from all hair types. And the benefits don’t stop there; intensely-hydrating Silverati softens and tames aging hair whilst improving elasticity and flexibility of brittle strands.
Both shampoo and conditioner use Oribe Signature Complex which defends hair from oxidative stress, photo-aging and the deterioration of natural keratin. It also protects against environmental aggressors that can have both drying and colour-depleting effects on the hair. Yikes! Combined with the plethora of benefit-giving ingredients including: Moringa Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Hydrolysed Plant Protein, Blue & Silver Pigments and European Silver Fir Extract to name just a few… We can’t wait to get our hands on it and expect the rest of the industry will feel just the same…
