We’re all about beautiful, healthy looking hair and we know how happy it makes us when our hair looks fabulous. This is the ethos running through the Joico brand, and has been for more than 40 years. Right back when LA-based hairdresser Steve Stafano launched the brand, the focus for Joico has been hair health, and it still is, thanks to the pioneering technology behind every product.
The science behind Joico colour: Healthy hair is packed with keratin, but over time everyone’s hair will lose some of this vital protein because of sun damage, styling and chemical treatments. All Joico’s colour products contain the Quadramine Complex, made from natural keratin that fills the gaps caused by damage, reconstructing hair from the inside out while it is being coloured.
Bringing the Joi of healthy colour
The first colour line in the JOIColour System Respect will focus on is Lumishine. Each of the colour lines in the JOIcolor System has its own speciality, but the focus is always on hair health.
• LumiShine is an easy to apply colour that delivers 100% reconstructed and strengthened hair with Hollywood shine and vibrancy. Imagine hair that has been kissed by the California sun – every day. LumiShine uses the exclusive ArgiPlex Technology, too, which repairs hair damage and locks in exceptional colour longevity, vibrancy and shine. It’s the Arginine in this formula that stabilizes dyes deep within the cortex of the hair for longer-lasting, fade-resistant colour. Works like a dream so we hear!

News added 09/02/18: DESTINATION EDUCATION
More than 1,000 jet-setting hair professionals from across the globe attended the first ever Joico Global Destination Education event, held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last month. The week-long experience combined seminars from some of hairdressing’s leading names, with plenty of opportunities to relax and network with likeminded salon owners, stylists and colourists. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Hairdressing icon, Vivienne Mackinder opened the event with a blast of colourful inspiration. Vivienne’s show was followed by an after party, featuring a spectacular fireworks display, setting the scene for a week of exciting, colour-themed classes.
The roster was action-packed. Those sharing their colour expertise included Joico European Design Team members, David Murray and Ryan Nicoletti-Dowd, together with Joico guest artist, Ben Mollin, who showcased precision colour techniques using Vero K-Pak Color. Joico celebrity colourist, Denis de Souza was joined by guest artists Melissa Duguay and Zöe Carpenter to showcase shiny, healthy commercial colour looks, featuring soft reds, sun-kissed sombré and beautiful blondes, using LumiShine. Creative colour experts, Phil Ring, Larisa Love and Ricardo Santiago inspired delegates with techniques that celebrated intense fashion colours, perfect for more adventurous colourists and clients. Amber O’Hara and Jenny Strebe joined forces to create looks combining Amber’s colour expertise and Jenny’s styling know-how. Along with Max Maisano, Amber presented her take on balayage, with step-by-step demonstrations for the audience members to take back to their salons. Jenny showcased her braiding brilliance, showing how colour and styling can work together to spectacular effect.
Cutting was also on the agenda, with Richard Mannah presenting his A Cut Above class, combining high-end cutting techniques and disciplines and translating them into wearable, on-trend looks.
Vivienne Mackinder also returned to the stage twice during the week, first with her Unlock Your Creativity presentation, offering a first-hand insight into using creative colour techniques in the salon. On the final day Vivienne, supported by Phil Ring and guest artist Gion Vincent, presented the new edition of the Salon I-Deas training concept, combining salon-friendly cut and colour techniques.
It was a week of colour and cutting inspiration, designed to fire the imagination while arming audiences with the knowledge and skills to enhance their salon work. Preparation for Joico Destination Education 2020 is already underway. We loved the vibe, and think the pool party pictures sum up the whole event perfectly – pure Joi!
