The wonderfully named Ambition Centre for Training (ACT) in Edinburgh has been winning accolades and awards as a premier provider of hairdressing training. Now ACT:Online offers a comprehensive learning management system that puts all ACT’s training and assessment materials online. It’s easily adaptable for individual salons, colleges or training bodies, it gives apprentices and assistants individual learning zones where they can work independently and upload any supporting files and documents including text, images, video and audio. Designed to dovetail perfectly with practical, salon-based work, it uses a games-type format that engages young people who have grown up in a digital world. Meanwhile, trainers and assessors can monitor trainees’ work remotely to judge progress and tailor materials and support individually.
