Valentine’s date night hair

Valentine’s Day is nearly here; you know what that means. Luxury-looking date night hair is in hot demand worldwide. Help clients look their best so they can feel their best. Confidence is key when it comes to love, right? Luckily, we have Alterna ambassador Sabrina Dijkman on hand to share three romantic looks which are bound to turn heads. You can recreate for clients or use them as inspiration for your interpretations.

Valentine’s date night hair by Sabrina Dijkman:

Braided Bun

Sabrina: The braided bun is a great hairstyle for Valentine’s, particularly for those who love a bun style but want to amplify a classic bun for Valentine’s. Paired with volume, this instantly adds glamour. For added volume at the crown and to prep and provide heat protection, I use the Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mist before blow-drying. Once the hair is dry, I like to mist through dry shampoo like My Hair. My Canvas. Another Day Dry Shampoo. This provides extra volume and gives the hair grit.

I backcomb a small section of the hair at the crown before brushing over for a smooth finish. Then create my braid. For softness, I leave some sections of hair out around the face, gently tousling to add texture. When creating your bun, start by creating a ponytail at the back of the head and securing this into place. Then, I part this in three sections, apply Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream through the sections and create three braids in each section. Pinning these into place to create your desired shape, gently pulling out some sections of the braid as you go to give the bun added texture and volume and a more effortless finish. Finish with a delicate bow or diamante clip to give this look a further fun feel!

Glossy Waves

Sabrina: You can never go wrong with waves, and they look even more perfect when paired with a luxe, glossy finish. When it comes to creating this look, haircare and prep is key. I like to wash hair with the Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner for moisture. This ensures a smooth and shiny finish.

To prep the hair and provide heat protection, I use the Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream. This gives the hair a flawless appearance. I then blow-dry before using heated styling irons to gently tousle the hair, working in small sections to create beautiful ‘s’ shaped waves. Once you have finished waving the hair, take a large tooth comb and gently brush through in sections to break up the waves and give them a soft, ‘undone’ appearance. Finish by misting the waves with Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist to give instant radiance and to get rid of any frizz and fly-aways.

90s Updo

Sabrina: In the last year this hairstyle has surged and been seen all over social media and on celebrities. Inspired by Pamela Anderson, the 90s super model updo is such a gorgeous, glamorous style that will instantly make your clients look chic and put together.

When it comes to creating this look, I like to start by misting through Caviar Anti-Aging Professional Styling Perfect Texture Spray to build volume and texture in the hair before creating the updo. This will also help to give the style hold.

I create a high ponytail at the back of the head, leaving out some sections of hair around the face. Then I twist the hair up towards the head, leaving out the end of the ponytail and pinning the twisted sections into place on the head. You can then bring the left-out section back down beside your twisted section and play around with this, pinning into place to create your desired shape/messy bun. Finish by misting through a lightweight hairspray through the hair for added shine and hold. One of my favourites is My Hair. My Canvas. City Slay Shielding Hairspray.
