Business Brunch

As you know, how we do business is forever changing, and the current economic climate is a discussion point in every industry, including hairdressing. So, in response to the ongoing economic crisis, business leaders from across the hairdressing industry came together for the first Fellowship Connects Business Brunch, sponsored by Phorest.

The event allowed industry leaders to connect and share experiences in an open and honest space, working together to encourage growth and progression. It is great to see the industry working towards a brighter future, especially with the ongoing struggle following the recession.  Read on if you want to learn more about what happened at the Business Brunch. This is an excellent example of the many benefits of connecting with others and coming together as an industry.

Business Brunch

What went on at the Business Brunch?

Barry Stephens, CEO of the Fellowship, and Luke Doolin, Phorest country manager UKI, welcomed guests and introduced the wider Phorest team. Phorest team members Verna Wall & Aoife Haannigan took the audience through an insightful and in-depth presentation, incorporating research statistics and looking at the vital salon and industry figures such as retention, loyalty and conversion. The duo also covered detailed evidence and facts surrounding the client’ Lifetime Value’ and explained how to calculate this figure while advising on maintaining and extending this. Presenters and business leaders also shared their personal experiences and figures.

The industry pre and post covid

Luke looked in-depth at the industry pre and post covid, the changes that Phorest has identified and how this affects the industry’s economics. The topics covered in this section opened a much deeper discussion with leaders sharing how their workforce has changed, how the working pattern has evolved and how clients have influenced the changes. Super-interesting stuff and similar topics to what you most likely look at in your own salon! The group also shared the benchmark costs within their respective areas, pricing and the service their business offers to the client. We hear this lengthy discussion opened many doors and allowed everyone to share their views and feedback from personal experience.

Q&A

Following the presentations, there was a Q&A session with Aoife, Verna and COO Sylvie McDermott. The questions were relevant to the current economic climate and its relation to the industry’s facts and figures.

Share, connect and learn

The Fellowships Presents Connects Business Brunch shows what we already know: that industry leaders want to work together and help the industry progress and evolve at every opportunity. We hope to see many more industry events bring people together to share, connect and learn from one another. It is essential in the current economic crisis that we stick together!
