Translating the trends

rjhandley TIGI times

TIGI European Session Director, Maria Kovacs, believes the skills learnt working on photographic sessions and backstage at fashion shows are crucial to progression, refining and developing skills. She often quotes hair as being like “a fabric” that’s moulded into a shape, creating the desired feeling and ultimately the right look for an image, or supporting a fashion designer’s vision and theme for a collection. Each season she runs a Session Course at the TIGI Academy where she interprets key trends into styling and textural ideas that can be used by the students to dress and style hair in the salon. Importantly, it also provides language and verbal ideas to share with the salon team and with clients, providing expertise and insider knowledge.
