2017 edition of the Tribu-te show

Kevin Murphy TSUK17

With more than 900 hairdressers packed into the Novello Theatre in London’s West End on Sunday night, expectations were running high for the 2017 edition of the Tribu-te show and it didn’t disappoint!
With an eclectic line-up of big-hitters – including Kevin Murphy- there was something on stage for every hairdressing taste with razor cutting from Trevor Sorbie Art Director, Tom Connell; Spanish trio X-presion demonstrated their #pixel colour technique; Skyler McDonald wowed the crowd with a literal dip-dye live on stage; and the hugely popular Hooker&Young closed the show with a glamorous and technically-perfect display. Kevin Murphy (the man himself!) opened the second half of the show – between Skyler and Hooker&Young – bringing his session-world prowess to the London stage. Based in Australia, Kevin in person is somewhat of an enigma rarely appearing on European stages, so it was a pleasure and privilege to watch him work with the natural texture of his models hair – and just a few products! AND Kevin’s eco-friendly ethos meant that he used absolutely no heated-styling tools for his look at all. Seriously neat! We think Kevin Murphy remains one of the most hard-working session stylists worldwide and we were thrilled to see him relay his favourite techniques to the audience including sewing embellishment pieces into the hair to create soft texture and shape. LOVE! See Kevin’s work below:
