News added 14/05/18: We were super excited when we heard that KEVIN.MURPHY’s fabulous COLOR.ME range would be taking space at our very own Colour World UK. Taking place next weekend Colour World UK is an anti-zoo, free-flow, colour-loving event that celebrates the art of the colourist with inspiring demos, seminars, trends and techniques. Representing KM, four COLOR.ME KEYs – Ana McCormack, Lee Belcher, Emma Taylor and Jesse Walker – have been invited along to Colour World UK to fly the flag and showcase the best the range has to offer. Let’s meet them and find out what we can expect next weekend…
• Ana McCormack – PLATINUM COLOR.ME KEY
Tell us a bit about yourself? I’m an adventurer and believer…vegan girl. I’ve been a colourist for 25 years.
How did you come to use Color.Me by Kevin.Murphy? I launched COLOR.ME to the UK market 5 years ago.
What can we expect from your Colour SHair demo? As a colourist you have an individual identity, a style in which you choose to present your colour work – something that speaks to your clients and keeps them with you. Mine is always pretty hair with beautiful colour. Whether I choose earthy, pastels or vibrant tones, the key is they must make the hair look both youthful and expensive. This is super easy with COLOR.ME! If you come and find me at Colour SHair, I’ll be giving you a sneak peak of what we will be showing in our education workshops this season. I’ll be sharing all our backstage colour prep secrets and also some really cool placement for focal point and zone toning on a live model.
What do you love most about being a colourist? It’s a limitless creative opportunity. You’re not only having fun but also changing how a person looks and feels. My team are everything to me, and the energy from my fellow colourists is something I simply wouldn’t trade.
Any top tips for making your colour looks last? To guarantee your colour work I would suggest a sulphate-free cleanse and moisturising regime. All of our KEVIN.MURPHY home care is colour-safe, too.
Favourite products? For an unbeatable in-salon colour removal regime try STAYING.ALIVE with RESTORE.
• Lee Belcher – GOLD COLOR.ME KEY
Tell us a bit about yourself? I’m a newbie to KEVIN.MURPHY but a massive colour nerd with many years’ experience. I love to know how colour works. My passion is education but I still run a column on a Saturday to keep me real and relatable to my salons.
How did you come to use Color.Me by Kevin Murphy? I joined KM back in July and loved the concept, their compact range features natural ingredients, it’s also ppd free and ammonia free and I wanted to know what it could do. The range is so versatile and uncomplicated. It delivers and the hair feels amazing…
What can we expect from your Colour SHair demo at Colour World UK? I will be using our new tool lightening wand; showcasing a blend of beautiful pastel shades from a deep depth, diluted down with clear showing how strong our pigments are. I will also be demonstrating our new COLOURING.ANGELS, showing the power of the blend and diffusion of colours.
What do you love most about being a colourist? I love that you can now be so personable with your customers. We create a bespoke experience. It allows for massive creativity, too. In just one hour service, you can transform a client’s look and confidence. We are like magicians.
Any top tips for making your colour looks last? Create a colour that grows out in such a way, to maintain the tone then definitely use one of COLOURING.ANGELS. Also ensure that hair is in the best condition prior to colour service and use STAYING.ALIVE to balance out porosity.
Top product from KM or Color.Me by KM? I love RE.STORE. It’s ground-breaking. Cleanses and treats the hair in one simple step. It keeps the colour bold, strong and shiny. You’ll love it!
• Emma Taylor – GOLD COLOR.ME KEY
Tell us a bit about yourself? I look after education in the North East. I juggle being a mamma with being a field-based Educator for KEVIN.MURPHY and I’m addicted to it!
How did you come to use Color.Me by Kevin Murphy? I tried and fell in love with the products and as a vegetarian, the brand ethos ticked all the boxes for me.
What can we expect from your Colour Hair demo at Colour World UK? Classic, beautiful hair. I want hair to look and feel expensive.
What do you love most about being a colourist? I love enhancing beauty and thrive on those light-bulb moments in salons when my education sessions click.
Any top tips for making your colour looks last? Cool everything down; the water, the heat and use KEVIN.MURPHY. The products include UV protection and our washes and rinses are all colour-safe. Before colouring, treat with STAYING.ALIVE and always post cleanse with RE.STORE.
Top product from KM or Color.Me by KM? I’m obsessed with Color.Me Clear. I use lots to achieve refreshed mid lengths and ends to gently remove colour and dilute my results but I’m addicted to the whole range. When you’re hooked on something it’s all or nothing!
• Jesse Walker – GOLD COLOR.ME KEY
Tell us a bit about yourself? I’m originally from South Africa and now reside in the UK. I have been a hairstylist for 14 years. I found KEVIN.MURPHY about three years ago and I have NEVER looked back!
How did you come to use Color.Me by Kevin Murphy? I was trained in Color.Me last year by our Colour Master Iggy and once I started using Color.Me I became hooked. I’m very passionate about both Color.Me and KEVIN.MURPHY!
What can we expect from your Colour Hair demo at Colour World UK? I’m all about an enhanced, natural look. On the flip side, I also love playing with toners and creating my own bespoke colours.
Any top tips for making your colour looks last? First, ensure hair is in the best possible condition before you start. I like the hair to be treated with a tailored KEVIN.MURPHY TREAT.ME the day or week before a colour service. This ensures that the hair has been repaired and restored and I can work on a better canvas to create beautiful colours that last.
Top product from KM or Color.Me by KM? My top product is RE.STORE. It uses superfood proteins to naturally bind moisture into the hair as well as reconstructing damaged hair. It always creates a stir when we use it because it doesn’t foam up like a normal cleanser BUT it cleans the hair and treats it at the same time. It is part of our finishing regime after all our colour services and it really helps to lock in our colours beautifully.
